Toni Polk (Niagara Falls) doubled to start a four-run first-inning explosion and the Niagara Frontier/Niagara-Orleans League went on to a 7-5 victory over ECIC in the softball championship game of the Second Western New York Underclassmen Showcase at the North Collins Athletic Complex. Julia Sortisio hit a two-run inside-the-park homer for ECIC in the seventh inning of the nine-inning game.
Stephanie Bielec (Niagara Falls) singled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to give Niagara Frontier/Niagara-Orleans a 3-2 victory over the Monsignor Martin/ Buffalo City team in the semifinals. ECIC advanced to the final with a 12-3 triumph over Chautauqua/Cattaraugus.
MVP honors went to Alley Cutting (Grand Island) of the NFL/N-O team after she pitched five shutout innings in the tournament.
