• Games that close out the Monsignor Martin Association regular season this evening will solidify the Manhattan Cup playoff picture. Canisius hosts Bishop Timon-St. Jude at 5 p.m. while St. Joe’s hosts St. Mary’s at 5:30 (both games have had their starting times moved up due to tonight’s hockey game between the schools). Niagara Catholic is also at Park at 6:30. The quarterfinals will be hosted by No. 1 seed Canisius and No. 2 seed Bishop Timon-St. Jude on Saturday, with the first game at 11 a.m. and the second at 12:30 p.m. The semifinals will be hosted by the top seed on Wednesday, Feb. 26.• The Section VI boys basketball tournament tips off today with first-round games and continues with prequarterfinal contests on Wednesday. Quarterfinal Friday will feature 32 games in which the winners will advance to their classification’s final four either at Buffalo State or Jamestown Community College. The semifinals begin Monday at Buffalo State with Class AA (6 and 7:45 p.m.), which has been moved after traditionally being held on the Thursday of Championship Week. There are also Class C-1 semifinals Monday at 6 and 7:45 at JCC.
• The Section VI girls basketball tournament tips off today with first-round games and continues Thursday with prequarterfinal action while the Monsignor Martin Association playoffs begin Sunday at Daemen College. Semifinals will be held for Class B at noon and 1:30 p.m. with Class A games at 3 and 4:30.
• The lineup for Super Monday’s hockey championship games at First Niagara Center will be determined tonight. The Monsignor Martin’s Niagara Cup semifinals at Niagara University have top-seeded Bishop Timon-St. Jude meeting St. Mary’s at 6 p.m., followed by the rivalry matchup of Canisius and St. Joe’s at 8. At the Northtown Center of Amherst, Williamsville North and Frontier will play for one finals berth and Clarence and Niagara-Wheatfield will vie for the other. Super Monday’s three-game schedule: Niagara Cup, 4 p.m., Section VI Division I (large school) final, 6:15; Section VI Division II final (8:30).
• The Section VI Championships in indoor track are Thursday at Fredonia State, starting at 9 a.m.
