Nichols hockey bows to national power

The Nichols hockey team fell to Shattuck-St. Mary’s for the second time in two days, 5-2, at the Dann Memorial Rink. Shattuck (32-5-2) is the No. 1 ranked team in the country and has five Division I signees on its roster. Nichols lost, 3-2, on Friday.

Shattuck jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two periods. Nichols scored the next two goals, but couldn’t get any closer Anthony Tirabassi had 44 saves for Nichols (16-12-5).

Nichols’ next start will be Monday as it travels to Upper Canada College for Game Two in its best-of-three series in the first round of the CISAA playoffs. Nichols won the first game, 5-4, last week in overtime.
